- Demonstrates difficulties sequencing sounds
- Minimal or no use of words to communicate
- Difficulties listening and following directives
- Little to no desire to communicate with others
- Primarily uses gestures and vocalizations to communicate needs/wants
- Limited vocabulary repertoire
- Does not combine words when communicating
- Difficulties responding to basic questions
